The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) allows Trinity faculty, staff, and students to manage digital learning, create and present learning materials online, and assess student learning. The LMS offers students multiple engagement options and faculty various feedback methods centered around skill development and learning achievement. Canvas can be used for face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Faculty can create and share content through assignments, pages, discussions, files, quizzes, and modules. Collaborative documents, peer reviews, and group assignments are easy to create and manage. Canvas is best utilized from a desktop or laptop mobile browser, but robust mobile apps allow for small edits and student assignment submissions/grading. Trinity users can access Canvas on a mobile device from the Canvas Teacher and Canvas Student apps.
Every registrar course will automatically be created in Canvas, with updated enrollment synced every 3 hours from our student information system (SIS). All faculty have 2 sandbox courses to import and test past LMS content or build/configure any new course design before importing to a main course.
ITS offers training, consulting, and course design assistance to enhance face-to-face courses, create blended learning experiences and offer online courses. Additionally, ITS consults on how to maximize 3rd party tools such as videos, textbook plug-ins, and interactive technology within your Canvas instance.
