What is the Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) program?
The program evaluates current technology use and reimagines learning spaces to support teaching and collaboration. With a clear approach and input from across campus, it ensures classrooms remain innovative and meet community needs.
How do classrooms get updated with the ILE design?
There is a three-step process to updating a classroom due for an upgrade.
Step One:
ITS initiates contact with department chairs and academic deans, who then share information about the upcoming classroom technology upgrade with their faculty and forward a set of questions designed to help us better understand how the classroom is currently utilized.
Step Two:
ITS reviews feedback from department chairs (and academic deans when applicable), convenes as needed to discuss, and finalizes the classroom’s technology design.
Step Three:
ITS will submit the design for production and communicate with the department chair through the implementation until the upgrade is complete.

Why we're doing the ILE Program
The ILE program is a strategic initiative to simplify and modernize classroom technology, making it easier to use, easier to support, and more effective for teaching and learning. By streamlining the user experience and reducing complexity, we minimize downtime and troubleshooting while increasing end-user satisfaction through their direct input. The design is secure, scalable, and adaptable to a wide range of learning environments—from small labs to large lecture halls. It also helps reduce waste and lower costs by consolidating technology and eliminating unnecessary components. Ultimately, ILE supports our mission to create connected, accessible, and inclusive learning spaces where technology helps—not hurts—instructional time.
Experience the Future of Learning with ILE!
We encourage you to check out the refreshed classrooms across campus with innovative technology and flexible setups.
We also invite you to explore our Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) Model Classroom - Coates Library 101Z, designed to showcase the latest classroom technology design. Faculty are encouraged to book the space for a live class session to experience the setup firsthand.

Your feedback is essential and will help us refine and enhance future upgrades!
