No internet in dorm room

Ethernet access in the dorm rooms requires 802.1X authentication. This means your Trinity username and password is required to be able to use the internet.

If your port has been activated and you still cannot connect, open a browser and navigate to http://neverssl.com

It is important to use an HTTP only website such as the one above so you may be properly redirected to the network login page.

Once redirected, enter your Trinity username and password and you will have internet access.

If you are using Windows 11, follow the instructions below.

Wired Ethernet authentication for Windows 11

  1. Navigate to Settings, click Network & Internet and then click Ethernet.
  2. Click Edit next to Authentication Settings.

     
  3. Enable IEEE 802.1X authentication then click Edit Configuration.

     
  4. Set EAP method to Protected EAP (PEAP).
    Set Authentication method to Secure password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).
    Enter username in your private identifier and then click Save.

     

  5. You should see a pop up appear above the clock and date of "Action Needed".
    You’ll need to sign in or take other action to get full network access. Click Sign In.

     

  6. You will be redirected back to the setting Network & Internet > Ethernet > Unidentified Network, Connecting, "Action Needed". Click Sign In.

     
  7. A sign-in window should pop up. Enter your Trinity username and password and click OK.

     
  8. You should see a pop up asking you to Continue Connecting? Click Connect.

     

  9. You now should be authenticated to the Trinity wired network.
