There are many computer labs located across campus. However, we understand that students may choose to bring their own for convenience and mobility. If you decide to bring your technology to campus, some of our recommendations and available discounts are below.

Other Needs
Due to the increase in video conferencing platforms, we recommend a computer with an internal camera.
We recommend a computer with at least an i5 processor or AMD equivalent at a minimum. The i7 processor would be an excellent upgrade for even better speed and reliability.
8GB of RAM will work for most users, but upgrading to 16GB might offer better performance if your budget allows.
Trinity recommends a 512GB solid-state drive. You should consider upgrading to a larger size if you store many multimedia files like music, photos, and especially videos.
Trinity offers its students Windows, Microsoft Office, and antivirus; you can purchase your computer with the bare minimum software package.
Headphones may be helpful when attending class remotely and may even be required depending on your external environment.

Stream2 IPTV is available on campus and allows students to stream and record shows using a compatible device.
Every dorm room has a cable outlet and access to basic cable. To use this service, students must bring a TV with a QAM 256 digital tuner and a standard 75ohm coaxial cable. Dish Network provides digital cable in HD and SD.
Each resident hall's phone and emergency broadcasting setup is different. Ethernet connections are not available in most dorms; bring wireless-capable devices or wireless cards. High-speed Wi-Fi is available in every dorm room, though 95% of the campus is within our Wi-Fi coverage area!
Students will use the TUSecure wireless network, a secure connection that can be accessed using your TU Network credentials. Students will receive their Trinity login credentials over the summer before their first semester, giving them access to Trinity email (Tmail) and other essential applications.
TUDevice is the wifi network for internet-capable tech devices (e.g., Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch or Wii, e-readers, Roku, Apple TV) that do not support TUSecure, which uses 802.1x authentication.
TUDevice automatically blocks devices it does not recognize. Students should self-register all devices requiring TUDevice to connect to wifi. Each student can register up to 10 devices.

Some majors, such as computer science or engineering, might require resource-intensive software. Students considering those majors should research the software (e.g., MATLAB, Creo, Adobe Creative Cloud) and consider purchasing a machine with an upgraded CPU, more memory, and the most compatible operating system. Keep in mind that this specialized software is available in the Technology Commons lab located on the first floor of the Coates Library and through a virtual desktop, so students can use ITS services to complete coursework.
